I have a question about the square kufi design depicted in my avatar. The image comes from a carpet made in Egypt about 20 years ago. Since I am planning to use the design as tilework on a wall, I would like to be absolutely sure about the orientation of the design. Question: is the design depicted correctly here or does it need to be rotated 90, 180 or 270 degrees clockwise?
If you can provide any information about the actual text used in the design, I would be ever so grateful.
Thank you for the valuable information about this wonderful art.

Salam Moana,
This Square Kufic design is Ayat al-Kursi and it is oriented correctly in your figure. The text starts in the bottom right side and reads clockwise in a spiral fashion that terminates in the center. This design comes from Mu'ayyad Shaikh Mosque in Cairo built in 816 H/1413 AD.
